Ikō - Let's Go!

"We took our brand new AT43 for its first proper trip away last week. Leaving our home base at Sandspit we headed down to the Coromandel area for five great days. This boat certainly lived up to its name Iko ( Japanese for "lets go" ). Handling was a dream through all the sea conditions we experienced. We were very stable and comfortable even when well past the advised cruise speed. This will be a boat well suited to our Hauraki Gulf playground. We now feel justified in our decision to select a boat with a solid and proven kiwi design pedigree. Prior to launch we went through a fun build process. Nigel, Ester and their crew are a well balanced and experienced team. Nothing seemed to phase them - I guess after 10 boats from this mould they have done it all before. Thanks guys. We wish you all the best for the future."  - Darryl and Julia.

Kokomea - Sunset Glow

'Before our beautiful new Elite AT43 we had a Rayglass 3500, this was our first launch after many years of small boating. We loved the open plan sedan style of the Rayglass but wanted a bit more space to accommodate family.

The AT43 ticked all our boxes; being NZ made in Auckland – so close to our Northland marine playground, still offering the open plan sedan, but with three cabins, and a practical but stylish design.
Right from our first conversations we felt an immediate connection with Nigel and Ester. As owners of a family business, we have huge respect for them as the second generation at Allan Tongs Boat Builders. They are so friendly and have been easy and responsive to deal with through the whole process from order to delivery and beyond.

The AT43 handles beautifully in all conditions so far and for the size of the boat, with twin Cummins 425hp engines it is surprisingly economical. There are so many great features – too many to list, but one thing we are super impressed with is how quiet the boat is on anchor at night – such great sleeps!

Having the option to semi customise, choosing interior finishes and extras, allowed us to add our own touches and fine-tune the boat to meet our needs and priorities. We’re so happy with this beautiful new boat and would be happy to talk to anyone considering taking the plunge – we’re so glad we did!' - Alan and Annie

Amamus - Latin for: We Love

"We quite simply love our beautiful AT43, so we thought we would give you a list of all the things we really enjoy.

  • The boat is very stable.

  • The space is fantastic. Lots of room. We had the work crew on board on a not so good night and still managed to fit 15 inside. It was cosy :)

  • The twin seat steering station - we use it all the time.

  • The nice wide boarding platform keeps fishing mess on the outside of the boat so really easy to keep clean.

  • Boarding platform ladder is fantastic.

  • Level walk through with only three steps forward – what a difference from being constantly up and down.

  • Having the enclosed back area - It gives us a dry outdoor space especially now its winter and when we have had rain all weekend. Wet gear is no longer a problem.

  • Having the aft helm station for berthing. Makes it super easy

  • Having solar panels. In the middle of the day last Sunday when it was pretty gloomy, we were still getting 11 Amps.

  • Having the big batteries. We think we would struggle with less.

  • We are using the TV more than we thought we would! Great for keeping up with the sport.

  • Being able to plug in appliances e.g. a vacuum cleaner. And Jenny even bought a hair dryer!

  • The heater makes winter boating feasible, and in the winter you get lots of nice calm days.

  • Left hand drive is no problem.

  • The seating is really comfortable, and we are so glad we didn’t go leather.

  • Having a lots of fridge space, and the fridges stay on all the time so can keep things frozen and don’t need to clean out after every trip.

  • The electronics are great. A mate who is an Air NZ pilot who said “ there is more technology on Amamus than on the ATR that he flies”

  • Everyone comments how beautifully finished it is and the decor - thank you Ester

  • One of our good boating friends said "I've got boat envy"

  • And at the end of each weekend away we don ‘t want to go home." - Paul & Jenny

Awatea - Dawn of a New Day

We really do love everything about our AT43. The 3 cabin design is definitely a winner and is greatly admired by everyone who comes onboard.

Over each summer we take her out for about sixty consecutive days travelling from Tauranga to Great Mercury, coromandel and Te Kouma harbour, Waiheke and Ponui, and to Great Barrier. GB is 115 nautical miles from Tauranga. In winter we took her out for a month making good use of her lovely heater  a well worthwhile extra as is the zen water maker! Priceless extra. We intend to take her to bay of islands sometime - maybe next year. The rest of the year we take her only for weekends or day fishing trips because we only have the harbour in Tauranga for shelter unless we travel up the coast . If we lived in Auckland we would definitely use her most weekends because  there is so much choice of places to fish and shelter. - Wayne and Janet
